Before you begin reading this, we must warn you that the post will contain small spoilers of what it is to come in the DC Comics based TV Series from the CW.
A new report has stated that Brandon Routh, the actor who played Superman in the 2006 movie, will be reprising his role in the upcoming CW series from the Arrowverse, in the Crisis on Infinite Earths.
WTH?! We don’t know about you, but as much as we were looking forward to see the Arrowverse expand even further, we are no longer that excited for Crisis on Infinite Earths to happen.
*Spoiler alert* Now, not only our absolute favourite superhero from the verse – Oliver Queen, aka the Arrow, will perish in the upcoming series as we’ve learnt in Arrow Season 7, but now Brandon Routh will reprise his role as Superman. For those of you who have not been following all the shows in the Arrowverse, let’s summarise a few things to help you out.
Brandon Routh was first introduced in Arrow as Dr. Raymond ‘Ray’ Palmer, the buyer of Queen Cobsolidated and later on, a love interest for Felicity Smoak. Then, he became the Atom and joined the Legends on their quest to save history.
Now, they want him to be once again Superman. That makes total sense right? I mean, one actor can play two different characters in the same universe. Should he though? The Arrow-verse is complicated as it is and even more so if you don’t follow all the series and watch the crossovers.
So while we are happy for Brandon, we are really not happy about this decision. An actor can play multiple characters at once and that is completely fine, but how are they going to explain the fact that the two characters look the same? They are simply going to ignore the fact most likely since Legends of Tomorrow is coincidently the only show from the entire DC Comics universe currently running on the CW that will not be included in the crossovers with Crisis on Infinite Earths.
That is so rude!
Guys, we don’t know, but this whole Crisis on Infinite Earths is loosing its appeal by the second. We have the feeling that the entire show will be nothing more than a major clusterfuck.
Since they are aiming for multiple Superman characters as the actor playing Superman in Supergirl will also join the cast of Crisis on Infinite Earths, maybe they should gave asked Tom Welling from Smallville to reprise his role instead.
