Heather Labarge is a 24 year veteran of the Air Force, the mother of two, and a product of dysfunction. She was raised in a military household by an abusive step-mother and neglectful father. She left for the military at 18 and never looked back – at least, not until her second marriage ended abruptly in a flurry of restraining orders and court cases.
She has written fiction and non-fiction works and essays on her journey back to self-esteem. Sunrise Fires is her first published offering, a look at one woman’s early steps out of negative self-talk and self-sabotaging behaviors that risk ruining her relationship with the love of her life. It will be followed by Love Me, Please, a non-fiction series of essays written at the beginning of Heather’s own walk away from dysfunction.
Today, Heather lives in Las Vegas, NV and continues to work full time for the Department of Defense while also writing, raising her son and continuing the journey to self-love.
Honestly, I loved this book. This is like no other book I’ve read before. The plot is so unique that it makes the book worth reading.
A lot of time passes and a lot of things happen. We finally get to discover relationships that are not perfect, but if the people involved love each other, then they can make it work. Jennifer is really insecure because of her past and she is afraid to go after what she wants because she might lose the only man she truly loved. What she does not realize is that she finally met the man that won’t give up or run away. It was so sad seeing her so lost and sad after she made the biggest mistake of her life. I would have hugged her if I could.
Ryan is the perfect man. I am not kidding. He is truly understanding and very confident when it comes to his relationship. He knows exactly what he has and he has no intention of losing it. He is not arrogant nor scared that he will lose the woman he loves. He is supportive and kind. He is so optimistic and that’s what makes it so sad that he loses hope and the desire to go on for a while.
The title fits the book perfectly even though it does not scream out loud why. You must read the book or part of it to truly understand why the title is perfect.
The cover is beautiful, yet simple.
Overall, I recommend you read this book. I know that is not one of the famous ones, the ones that everyone keeps telling you about nor it is perfect, but the story is beautiful.
HEA and standalone.
